And while the world is still young, I can still hope for and imagine the day in which humankind rises above the social limitations of race, gender, religion, language, and sexual preferences; that we may stand up and see what lies beyond the horizons of the stars and below the deepest crevices of the oceans in a world that is no longer plagued by war, hatred, arrogance, and ignorance.

Are you taking a section of English 315, by chance? I took 2 sections of that (1 my sophomore year and 1 my junior) and it was "Women in Literature" or something like that.
My class is mostly girls, I think there are like 4 guys, in a class of 12-15. I need to participate though and I haven't been, which sucks ... I find it hard to just jump into the conversation.
