  • If there's one type of person in this world that I hate more than anyone else, it's The Poindexter.  But what exactly is a "poindexter"?  I use the term Poindexter to describe people who are just completely out of it, who follow the book without questioning it, because usually when someone thinks of a poindexter they think of someone who's got their nose planted in a book.

Poindexters have no emotions or second thoughts about others' feelings, they exist only to obey, like mindless robots.  They are the people who will tell the teacher if they see you chewing gum in class, even if you always spit it out properly in the trash can instead of mashing it up under the desk.  They will literally go out of their way to get you into trouble, because they truly believe that they are the deliverers of fairness and justice in this world, although in reality they're too scared to grow up and experience life outside of their normal comfort zone every once in a while.  Poindexters are the worst kind of people IMO, because you cant trust them with anything.  No secret goes unshared, because secrets "arent fair".

Usually, all of my problems in life can all be traced back to one person:  The Poindexter.  Tattle-tale.  The person who didnt know when to keep their traps shut.  The person who causes others harm, even when the rules being broken are harming noone.  They are the person who should have looked away and pretended not to see anything.  A poindexter is that person at the Yo-Yo Ma! or Blaqk Audio concert who, instead of shutting the fuck up and enjoying the concert like a normal human being, annoyingly interrupts you in the middle of a few quick snapshots to rudely remind you that photography isn't allowed.  The kind of person who makes a sudden *gasp* noise when they notice that you're driving a few miles over the speed limit, or drinking alcohol when you arent 21 years old, or when they notice that you're copying a problem off of someone else's homework.  These gasps are necessary in order to fill the unused areas of their brain that normally would be reserved for "common sense" with air.

God damn you, poindexters.  Fuck you all to hell.  The world would be a better place without you.  Wake up and smell the ashes, some rules are unfair and meant to be broken.  Live life a little.  Get into trouble.  Scrape your knees every once in a while.  Quit living in a bubble your entire life.  You will not get laid this way.

    t('-'t)  Cry some more.

  • Fucking poindexters. I hear you. Some people take their whole lives just to learn a little grace and common sense and it's really too bad.

    I concur. Thanks =)

BTW, the reason why I wrote this entry was because I was supposed to have a great day today. But it was ruined by the acts of one individual: Last name "Dexter", first name "Poin". Everything was fantastic today, I had spent all weekend working and finishing all of my physics homework in advance, so I had all my homework finished and worked out with detailed explanations so that I could explain it to my classmates who needed help. Classmates who have other responsibilities, fulltime jobs and the like, who dont have a shitton of free time to attend to working on homework for 12 hours. But my homework explanations arent "helping" to the poindexter, it's "cheating", and by giving my answers and work out to other people, I immediately become the bad guy. Because of him (note, I'm not sure what gender this individual is, I usually just refer to them as a "he". Point is that I might be in trouble), my entire professional career is on the line. It CAN be argued that what I'm doing is an act of plagiarism, and I could get kicked out of the university. But that's so incredibly vague, you might as well consider all tutors to be plagiarists as well. But does Mr. Dexter care? Not one bit, no fucking mercy. The academic board is going to review my case, and if convicted I might have to either take a failing grade for the class, or worst case scenario I get kicked out of school for 2 years and I have to take 12 credit hours of ethics courses.

It makes me feel better blogging about this little problem of mine. And my problem isnt the academic board, it's the poindexter. And Mr. Dexter better hope to shittin-god that I dont find out who they are.

  • I knew a guy who I went to school with whos last name was Poindexter. Not even joking. He was a freakin' asshole, too. Me and him didn't get along at all... maybe he was taking his name a little too literally haha.

But on a more serious note: I do hope everything works out in your favor. You were helping, not cheating necessarily. Good luck with you, I mean that.

  • Oh wow, I've never seen that before (the 'recommendation') thing. Guess that means no one's recommended any of my entries?

  • Shit, that sucks. I was going to just make a comment about how awesome Blaqk Audio is, but I realize that would be in horrible taste. I hope everything works out.

  • @Schloma -

Blaqk Audio IS awesome, it wouldnt be in poor taste at all. I love hearing other fans talk about how awesome they are =)

  • I have ran across some of those guys in my lifetime, but I imagine it hard for someone to be like that at this age.
    But, there probably are.
I knew a guy in middle school who existed to tattle. No one liked him. He hung himself.
    That's a true story btw.

  • @Gerald_Washington -

Sounds like he was an true hero to the community.

The number of poindexters that I've had to deal with has gone down over the years, but they're still there, and it worries me. I think that if you're still a poindexter this late into the game, there's not much that can be done to change their habits.

  • @cApNhOwDy -

Well then, Blaqk Audio is AWESOME! :D

  • I know exactly what you mean Mikey. Those dorks are more than just pests. I hope things come out OK for you with the review board. Wish I was there. I'd get out my ski mask and have a little talk with Poindexter.

  • There are always some of the people in school!

  • Yeah, they ID-ed me and my roommate when we got there - it hadn't even occurred to me that it might be 21+, but we're actually both 22 now, so it was fine. The group my prof was in was pretty good.

Oh, and the reason they probably do that is because a waiter comes around to ask if you want to order a drink, and they probably don't want to have to be IDing people during the concert.

  • @cApNhOwDy -

you could say he was "an hero".
    yeah, thats horrible, I know.

  • Gawsh... I feel for you... Hope you had a better day.

  • right on, someone who follows a book only (especially when books can be wrong) is an idiot.

  • Made me laugh from the first scentence on because, damnit if I don't work with a handful of these.

Sláinte to Blaqk Audio by the way! Someone tell Davey we want another album...

  • bahaha
i've never seen that text smiley before!

  • Poindexters sound like brainwashed submissive little betches, such crotch grabs..

  • agreed. people who can't understand the way the world works piss me the fuck off.

  • ..You just described my brother lol.

  • I couldn't agree more. Those snitch, so that they can hear a little bit of praise of them being great for ratting others [ eargasm for them pssh! =_= ]. -->t('-'t)  <-- I like that one! HAHA XP!

  • Huh. So that is what all that fuss was about in regards to the gum chewing. I always assumed the teachers did that to make my life miserable.

  • I hate them as well. I really love your voice in this entry. Good post. (:

  • So Poindexters are like evil Vulcans. No emotion, but still sniving coniving worms. Nice!

  • hoho, i love this post. i so know what you're getting at, i hate them too.
